Toyama Bay and the fish that change their name as they grow (2)
Shiba Sayuri

Technique: Makiji and Makie
Materials: Horse chestnut wood, lacquer, tin powder
I layered the maki-e (lacquerware) to create a slightly raised effect in the sea area. To reflect the character of Toyama Prefecture, I depicted a yellowtail, a fish that symbolizes success as it grows, using maki-e techniques.
Artist: Sayuri Urushiba
With the theme of creating objects that can return to nature, I focus on ease of use when making lacquerware.
